Mid-2020s public notices have included Sealers Cove boardwalk rebuild periods, long alternate approaches, campground closures and temporary full-park management windows. None of those sentences replace parks.vic.gov.au for your dates.
If a key segment is closed, redesign or cancel. Do not bush-bash fragile environments to save a booking ego.
Prep that actually matters
Book camps early for popular windows. File a trip plan outside the park. Match daily distance to the weakest pack-carrier. Water treatment and capacity are competence.

Is the Sealers Cove boardwalk open?
Parks Victoria currently publishes that the Sealers Cove boardwalk is closed for rebuild (no public access to that boardwalk). Access to Sealers Cove Campground has been described as possible only via a much longer hike from Telegraph Saddle (about 25 km in those notices). This is not a live feed — re-check Parks Victoria change-of-conditions and the project page for your dates.
Can beginners do the Southern Circuit?
Not as a first Prom activity. Build multi-day experience first. Tidal River day walks (Oberon, beaches, Lilly Pilly) are the right on-ramp for most visitors.
Are fires allowed?
Plan for no open fires. Use appropriate stoves under current Parks Victoria rules and verify fire restrictions for your dates.
